2024 Fall Broadway Revue

We presented the 2024 Fall Broadway Revue once in the evening and once several weeks later for "Express Pass" students during the day. The evening audience packed the theater and we allowed the cast to invite their closest friends to come see the concert during the school day as a part of the WGHS Art and Speaker Series.

The hallway monitor slide that played the week of the show,
was also used on the announcements to help sell tickets to the evening showing

The concert was held in the new Frick Theater, and with the space being new, we had several moments of technical troubleshooting. In the end the show looked great and the singers did an amazing job on their songs. The lighting and sound system in the space is wonderful for concerts. The colors are rich and saturated. The sound is loud and clear. Each performance was different and we even got some live musicians playing for two of the tunes. Special shout out to the Music Department for donating one of the older practice pianos to the Frick.

The show had some minor adjustments made when we revived it for the afternoon audience. Some singers did not return due to a variety of reasons. Lyd Foss hosted solo and Mr. Schaefer stepped in for a tune; both concerts went great. The audiences were extremely appreciative of the talent being showcased and offered an excited response to each singer.

THE SHOW

The concert had 14 performances and two hosts

        Lyd Foss                               and Cami Smith
These two fabulous students hosted the evening event from a script at the lectern.

They hyped up the show and told the audience each song title, a little history of the song, and the show it was pulled from; keeping the audience on board. So much of the concert presented material outside the context of the story from which it originated. The hosts add a bit of that missing context. Many of the audience has no knowledge of any of these shows.

Amelia singing her song, and the lectern the hosts used between each song

Amelia sang a song from an internet musical that has not yet been to Broadway but could be soon...
It was from a show called 36 Questions and the song is called "Our Word"

Janiah Davis is a favorite at the Broadway Revues, bringing a refreshing ease to her selections. She decided to sing from the show Hairspray this time and the track was called "I Know Where I've Been"

Zodiac Ryan is no stranger to the Broadway Revue stage; and this time she shows off with a song from the very famous Chorus Line. Her rendition of "What I Did For Love" was powerful.

Lilly Hodel brings the sultry and stylish character of Momma Morton to life
with "When You're Good to Momma" from the musical Chicago.

Daun Pawlicki wowed us with two songs in the concert. She is a special addition to any of our revues. Her ability to deliver a true Broadway sound is something to witness. The first was a wonderful story song called "Me and the Sky" from the 911 themed musical Come From Away.

Mrs. Dicken's Dance for Fitness Class prepared a piece that utilized a cutting of the song "One" from the musical Chorus Line. The dancers used the whole stage at times, created several formations and then came together for the classic kick line the show is famous. Each dancer brought a wonderful energy; each student supporting the other in the choreo. Dance classes have been one of the best additions to our curriculum.

Gotta have the hats for this number!

Mike and Fiona performing their rendition of "Hopelessly Devoted to You"
from the amazing musical Grease. Great to have a live guitarist on stage for this show.

Imari and Janiah sang together on their all girl version of "A Whole New World" from the musical Alladin; we love when students team up for duets.

Clover Harris and Hank Yau (on Piano) performing a song in the evening showcase.
The song was from the musical Mean Girls. Hank later went on to play piano and lead the band in the Fall musical Cabaret in the Black Box.

Cami Smith is a concert queen and always brings a song that shows off her abilities. She sings some of the most challenging songs written for the stage. This time she sings a track from the Stephen Sondheim musical Sweeney Todd called "Greenfinch and Linnet Bird".

Addy Hahn closes out the show with a powerhouse performance of "Waving Through a Window" from the musical Dear Evan Hanson. Her control and confidence rang through and the song proved to be a great end to the show.

(Not referenced or pictured...somehow we missed these performers when the cameras were going, if you have any pics of these performers please send them to us!)

Lucy Middendorf...............................Into the Woods ("If I Knew Things Now")
Mr. Schaefer.....................................Into the Woods ("Giants in the Sky")
Daun Pawlicki....................................Crazy For You ("I've Got Rhythm")
Phoenix Hill...................................Mean Girls (monologue)
Shyla Reid, w/Kaniya Farmer & CiZayiah Lang ...dance High School Musical

Such a diverse selection of Broadway tunes, the students did an amazing job!
