The Stage is Yours...
We had decided to take a year off from doing a full musical and instead arranged a show around the kids who wanted to practice a song and perform. We had about 20 kids start with us and in the end about ten students, one drama alum and a teacher all performed on the Jerry R. Knight stage for a wonderful and appreciative audience.
Rehearsals were set up so that each singer would have time to learn their music, get a track to rehearse on their own as well, and also time to practice with microphones. We started early, but it took a lot of rehearsals to get through everyone's music, block the songs on our feet, and to polish them on the stage. We also gave each song a costume and some sort of prop or set piece. We also built a full projection show that went behind each song and a title screen from the show the song was from. The lighting was kept simple but was very colorful and utilized the follow spot.

Meredith sang two songs in the show and one was a song she didn't get to use at STATE due to an illness she acquired the weekend of the conference.
Rehearsals started out in the choir room and then we moved them onto the stage when the concert date approached. The singers needed to begin using the microphones.

Everyone was asked to come in and sing through their number and watch as many of the other singers as they could to provide a test audience for the performers.
